A wonderful week

Last week our daughter came to stay with us for one week. It became a very intense week of visiting nice spots in São Paulo (SP) and 36 hours in Rio de Janeiro! Two very different cities only 45 minutes away from each other by air.

It is said that many buildings in SP could use a giant rinse in a urban bathtub and that is so true! They are so grey and dirty due to the air pollution! Maybe that is why the colourful paintings on the walls are in striking contrast with its surroundings like in the above picture in Vila Madalena.

36 hours in Rio

In Rio we walked and walked and walked. Up to the Corcovado, down to the famous beaches enjoying the fresh air and relaxed atmosphere. The next day we took the Bonde tram from Santa Theresa to Centro, just a few hours before a tragic accident took place where 5 people died. We visited a great installation about the life and works of Miles Davis, walked some more through the neighborhoods of Centro, Lapa and Santa Theresa before heading back home. By just escaping the accident, this visit to Rio became even more special.
